Lingelethu SPS, is located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa with approximately 15 staff and teachers. They have approximately 300 learners grades K-5. Lingelethu has never possessed a library on its campus. Because of our partners, the Matthew E. Russell Foundation was able to provide a greater opportunity to improve reading and writing by gifting one fully equipped world-class library for this school situated in a poor rural community. In addition to over 5,000 books and resources, they received 3 computers and printers, a 50” monitor and 25 e-readers. It was our goal to provide the educators and learners with an easier access to quality instruction and learning with a basic resource all schools should have; books. This library will not only improve the quality of teaching and learning for the school but the community at large.
“Our educators and learners are sincerely thankful for the generosity shown by the Matthew E. Russell Foundation.”
Ondela Nzama, Librarian
